Hello, Ocean Tribe!

As many of you know, we are still recovering from Hurricane Ian, which devastated our sandy bucket school just six months ago. Although we have made significant progress since then, there is still a long way to go, and we could use your help!

We lost almost all of our program supplies and field gear, making preparing for the busy summer camp season even more daunting than usual. We are seeking the help of our dedicated Sanibel Sea School family for a few days after school to get the job done. There will be painting, prepping, building, loading, and lots of laughter along the way.

Our FREE Volun-Teen Days will be held on May 31, June 1, 5, and 6 after school from 2 to 5 p.m. Please read this page carefully to learn more and register below.

When & Where:

Dates: May 31, June1, 5, and 6

Times: 2 to 5 p.m. EST. This is a relaxed time slot; feel free to come and go anytime in between.

Ages: Targeted towards ages 13 and up but open to middle school students seeking volunteer hours as well.

Price: Free; we will sign off on volunteer hours for these events or write a letter if your school requires it.

Location: Bailey Homestead Preserve; 1300 Periwinkle Way.

Pull in and enter the metal gate, follow the dirt path to the end, where it will dead-end in a parking lot. From here, walk through the path to the large pavilion and look for our staff members in orange/red shirts to direct you.

What to Expect:

Come prepared to work in hot, outdoor, buggy conditions. Everything worn can be expected to get dirty.

Recommended attire:

• Closed-toed shoes

• Loose, light-weight pants and long-sleeve sun shirts

• Hat, sunglasses, plenty of sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle

Potential Projects:

• Building Capture the Fish baskets

• Putting together seine nets

• Loading and unloading gear between locations

• Organizing camp set up under the pavilion

• Setting up art projects for summer camp
