Thankful for the Ocean Community Beach Walk
***Registration for this event is full. We invite you to join the waitlist by submitting the form below, or click here to learn about other upcoming beach walks.***
Opt Outside is a movement founded by the outdoor company REI as an alternative to Black Friday. Instead of offering sale prices to kick off the holiday season, they shut down their stores and website and encourage people to go out and explore with loved ones instead of shopping.
Each year, in the spirit of that movement, Sanibel Sea School offers a Thankful for the Ocean Walk, which takes place on Black Friday. It’s a special holiday tradition that we look forward to sharing with our community.
So come join our marine science educators to explore what has washed ashore the morning after Thanksgiving! They will talk about any interesting organisms and objects we find along the way, share some basic biology, and answer your questions. You are sure to learn something new.
This event is free and all ages are welcome. Children under 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Group size is limited, which allows us to provide a more intimate experience and avoid disrupting our neighbors and the island wildlife. Registration is required, and can be completed by filling out the form below. We will email you to confirm your registration or notify you of your placement on the wait list.
