Sanibel Sea School Partners with Resorts to Educate Guests

Sanibel Sea School is excited to partner with two new resorts this season for weekly beach walks to help educate guests about the wonders of shells and other marine life that wash up on the shore.
In addition to existing resort partners — Island Inn and Sanibel Moorings — Sanibel Siesta and Blind Pass Condominiums join the lineup of resort partners that Marine Science Educators visit weekly to facilitate beachcombing experiences.
“We are thrilled to partner with these resorts,” says Sanibel Sea School Director Shannon Rivard. “Part of creating change and encouraging responsible tourism is meeting people where they are, so we are excited to meet them right outside their hotel rooms! By instilling wonder and curiosity in visitors, we can help build a strong relationship with the coast that will lead to lasting stewardship.”

These family-friendly programs are offered four times a week at different resorts, allowing guests to explore and learn about the shells and wildlife that call Sanibel home. Any visitors are welcome to join the walks. They are not limited to guests at the resorts.
The walks are held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at Blind Pass Condominiums (starting in February), Wednesdays at Island Inn, Thursdays at Sanibel Siesta, and Fridays at Sanibel Moorings. Guests and owners of the hosted resorts can attend for free, while outside guests can attend for a fee.
“No two beach walks are the same. The ocean has a way of keeping us on our toes. You never know what you’ll find,” says Rivard. “Whether you’re interested in sea turtles or sea shells, there is something for everyone!”
