Welcome to Homeschool at Sea, an immersive program by Sanibel Sea School that brings marine science to life for homeschoolers. The Homeschool at Sea program offers an experiential, hands-on approach to marine science. Similar to our regular day courses, homeschool sessions include a mix of classroom activities, field excursions, experiments, and art projects. Depending on the topic, we’ll adventure to Gulf beaches, mangrove forests, or SCCF’s preserves on Sanibel. We will inspire a sense of environmental stewardship as we explore the importance of protecting the oceans and the impact of human activities on marine habitats.
Homeschool at Sea courses are offered seasonally from September to November on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for students aged 6 to 17. Courses are divided by age group (6 to 10, 10 to 13, and 13 to 17). We are flexible on age restrictions given the inclusive nature of homeschooling, give us a call to discuss!
How it Works
Homeschool at Sea courses are offered seasonally from September through November.
For each age group, both morning and afternoon options are available. Courses run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Students can sign up for a morning session, an afternoon session, or stay for the whole day. Each week, we offer a unique area of focus. Our talented marine science educators tailor our core curriculum to the week’s focus, so each session is unique, even on the same day. You can find more information on each week’s focus below.
We offer a special discounted rate for homeschool families interested in our program. We understand the financial considerations of homeschooling and are pleased to offer this program at a reduced rate of $40 per student for a 3-hour course. This subsidized pricing is made possible through our scholarship fund, which supports our commitment to making quality education accessible to all families.
