Discover Beachcombing
Sanibel Island offers world-class beachcombing, birding, and wildlife-watching opportunities. There is so much waiting to be discovered here! Join our knowledgeable marine science educators for a casual guided beach walk to explore what's washed ashore. We will talk about some of the more mysterious objects we find on the beach, look for fascinating animals, and learn about shell biology.
Your guide will happily answer any questions you might have along the way. No two beach walks are ever the same — the sea has a way of surprising us!
Guided beachcombing walks weekly on Wednesdays
- Time: 9 - 10:30 a.m.
- Price: Free for Island Inn Guests / $20 per participant for general public
- Island Inn Guests: Make reservations through the front desk at 239-472-1561. The walk will start and end on the Gulf side of Matthew's Lodge.
- General public: Register here.
Guided beachcombing walks weekly on Fridays
- Time: 9 - 10:30 a.m.
- Price: $20/ adult for Moorings Guests (children free with a registered parent) / $20 per participant for general public
- Sanibel Moorings Guests: Reservations can be made through the office at (239) 472-4119. Walk-ins are welcome, but please visit the office to register first. All programs meet at the Big Blue Chair.
Discover Beachcombing is a family-oriented program. A parent or adult must accompany participants under 16. Please call 239-472-8585 to register participants under 16.
