Giving Tuesday
Will you help us give our students a gift this #GivingTuesday?
#GivingTuesday is here! This year, we’re hoping to raise $1,500 to give our students the gift of microscopy!
Sanibel Sea School recently received a grant to fund the purchase of a new dissection microscope. But microscopes aren’t usually designed for tiny hands and eyes, and it can be difficult to use just one microscope with large groups of kids. To enhance the experience, we would like to purchase a microscope camera and TV monitor – this will allow everyone to take a look at our ocean discoveries at the same time.
With this equipment, students will be able to do things like:
-
Observe coquinas up close, and see their two siphons and muscular foot
-
Discover the intricate anatomy of bird feathers
-
Better understand how sea urchins use their tiny tube feet to move
-
Examine the contents of SW Florida sand
-
Prepare for future careers in science and technology
-
And so much more!
We can strengthen almost all of our programs with microscopy, which means day program participants, school groups, campers, and outreach groups will benefit.
The total amount needed to purchase a microscope camera and TV monitor is $1,500. Every donation — of any amount — will help us reach our goal. Will you help us this #GivingTuesday?
