Picking up the long-standing fundraiser from the Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club, the Friends of Randy of Sanibel (FOROS) is holding Christmas Tree Sales at Jerry’s Foods.

The sale of trees started on Nov. 29, with trees available on Saturdays through Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the trees sell out.

“We got 100 trees, which are all different sizes,” FOROS President Randy Carson said.

“We’ve 5-6 feet, all the way through 9-10 feet,” he added.

As is tradition, the event serves as a fundraiser.

“We do a different charity every year. This year, we did the Sanibel Sea School,” he said referring to the FOROS’ annual 4th of July Road Rally. “So, it’ll coincide with the road rally proceeds also.”

The west side parking lot will turn into a wonderland of premium Fraser firs, freshly cut and shipped.

“They come out of Michigan,” Carson said, noting that they continued with the Lions’ vendor.

There are also some Christmas tree stands available for purchase.

“We are very grateful that Friends of Randy selected us to benefit from both the Christmas Tree Sales and from the Road Rally this year,” said Sanibel Sea School Director Shannon Rivard. “Thanks to their generosity, more families will be able to enjoy our immersive program offerings and share our vision of a world where all people value, understand, and care for the ocean.”

The trees typically sell out quickly, so the community is advised to shop early.

“Come early,” Carson said.

FOROS thanked the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District, which helped unload the trees, and Rachel Pierce.

“Thank you to the FOROS members and volunteers,” Carson added.

The community is encouraged to grab their tree.

“To carry on the Christmas tree tradition that the Lions Club started — and to support the charity and the community,” he said.
