Flagship Campus - 455 Periwinkle Way
Sanibel Sea Schools Flagship Campus is located on the East end of the island near the Lighthouse. Both the bay and Gulf are just a short walk from our campus. Sometimes, we might take a field trip in one of our vans.
We have two buildings. The large blue one facing Periwinkle Way has our retail shop with everything you need for camp. The second one behind is our beloved Kennedy Building, where campers hang out during free time and lunch! Otherwise, we spend most of our time out at the beach. Homestead Campus - 1300 Periwinkle Way
Sanibel Sea School is beyond grateful to have the Bailey Homestead as our special second location for summer camps. On this preserve, the historic Bailey home sits on a lush swath of SCCF land that features freshwater wetlands and interior ridges, creating a 19-acre wildlife corridor.
During these camps, in true Sanibel Sea School fashion, we hop in our vans and head to the ocean for hands-on marine science fun.
Drop off and pick up occur at 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. We spend most of our time at the beach, but we use the Homestead to have lunch and cool off under a covered pavilion. It's the perfect camp setting with picturesque gardens to explore, a wide-open grassy lawn for playing games, and within walking distance of hiking trails through wild Sanibel. CECI Campus – 350 Casa Ybel Rd
Sanibel Sea School is excited to partner with the Children’s Education Center of the Islands (CECI) to offer Sea Squirt Camps for our youngest explorers. This collaboration is a natural fit—both programs share a deep belief in the power of nature, hands-on learning, and nurturing curiosity during early childhood. Together, we’re creating a welcoming, supportive environment where little learners can explore, play, and connect with the natural world.
CECI’s campus is nestled on five acres of land off Casa Ybel Road, surrounded by lush native vegetation, winding nature trails, and SCCF preserves. With indoor, air-conditioned classrooms, dedicated facilities, and an outdoor play area thoughtfully protected from bugs using lavender and lemongrass, the campus offers the perfect balance of comfort and outdoor exploration. It’s a safe, enriching space designed specifically for young children. Even better, the campus is located just half a mile (less than a 10-minute walk) from the beach, making shoreline adventures an easy and exciting part of the Sea Squirt experience.
Sea Squirt Camps at CECI will be offered for three weeks this summer: June 8–26, and we’re hopeful this partnership will continue to grow—allowing us to offer Sea Squirt weeks all summer long in the years ahead. We’re thrilled to welcome families to this special campus and look forward to many sandy, curious, and joy-filled days together.
What to expect at CECI campus?
- A familiar Sea Squirt experience. Campers will enjoy the same Sanibel Sea School activities, schedule, and curriculum—just in a brand-new, thoughtfully designed space.
- Extra support and flexibility for families. CECI provides additional on-site support staff, and optional aftercare from 2 - 5 p.m. is available to help simplify summer schedules.
- For questions about camp options beyond June or for students below the Sea Squirt age range (ages 2 -3), we encourage families to contact CECI staff directly—additional opportunities may still be available.
What’s the difference between all three?
- Island Skills weeks are offered at both the Flagship Campus and the Homestead Campus. The program runs the same at both locations, but the themes are unique to each campus! We travel mostly in vans from the Homestead Campus and mostly on foot from the Flagship Campus.
- Night Snorkels are offered 1/month to Flagship Campus only.
- Sea Squirts weeks are only offered at the CECI campus.
- CIT weeks are only offered at Homestead and Flagship campuses.
- Locations vary for teen camps; refer here for details.
- Juggling siblings at different campuses? No problem. All three locations are close together, making it easy to get everyone to where they need to be on time.
- Our retail shop is at the Flagship Campus, selling branded merchandise and essential camp gear.
