Cody Weber

As a native Floridian, Cody has always had a deep passion for the wildlife around him. His urge to help wildlife and misunderstood species led him to dedicate much of his time to better understand the importance of biodiversity as a whole. After moving to Fort Myers from Tampa in 2013 to pursue management roles at Publix, he switched gears and began pursuing a biology degree in 2020 at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW).

Here, Cody has gained experience under professor Jordan Donini tracking Florida box turtles (Terrapene bauri), surveying diamondback terrapins (Malaclemys terrapin), co-authoring four poster sessions, and publishing a geographic distribution note on variable helmeted turtles (Pelomedusa variabilis) in Florida.

Cody is still working with Donini to track three-striped mud turtles (Kinosternon baurii), and at SCCF, he is assisting Wildlife & Habitat Management staff with wildlife tracking, monitoring, habitat surveys, and data entry and management. Outside of work and school, Cody tends to his pet reptiles and two dogs with his fiancé.
