We are thrilled to announce that Marine Science Educator Austin Wise has successfully completed the American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 2 Kayak Instructor certification, enhancing our paddling programs at Sanibel Sea School.

Austin participated in the four-day “Essentials of Kayak Touring” course, hosted at Gulf Coast Kayak in Cape Coral, from Nov. 16-19. The course was led by renowned ACA instructor Mike Aronoff, who brings over 40 years of paddling experience.

Reflecting on his experience, Austin shared:

“I had the pleasure of being a part of an American Canoe Association Level 2 Kayak Instructor course… We worked hard to prove our proficiency in several paddle strokes, rescues, and maneuvers, along with our ability to demonstrate and articulate those skills to an audience. I am thrilled to say that I completed the course with a passing result, and I am very much looking forward to broadening the horizons of Sanibel Sea School paddle programs.”

Austin’s certification ensures that our paddling programs meet the highest safety and teaching standards, enabling us to provide a more enriching and enjoyable experience for participants.

Explore Southwest Florida’s Waters with Private Paddling Sessions

With Austin leading the program, we’re excited to offer Private Paddling Sessions tailored to families and groups who want to explore Sanibel Island while learning about the area’s incredible marine life.

Here’s what to expect:

• Skill Evaluation and Instruction: Your session begins with a quick assessment of paddling skills, followed by guidance to ensure everyone feels confident and safe on the water.
• Custom Adventures: Whether you’re fascinated by mangrove forests, birds, or marine creatures, we can customize the outing to suit your interests.
• Marine Education: Our instructors are also marine science educators, eager to share their knowledge of Southwest Florida’s unique ecosystems.
