Sanibel Sea School is thrilled to welcome Kimberly Bouwkamp to its team of ocean advocates.

Bouwkamp originally joined the ranks of the education team as a seasonal educator, primarily assisting with educational day courses. After Sanibel Sea School’s busy spring and summer seasons came to an end, Bouwkamp was offered a full-time position to continue delivering marine science education and working to create lasting memories for children and families.

Originally from Michigan, Bouwkamp graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife and a concentration in wildlife biology. She volunteered as an environmental educator on Florida’s east coast and worked as an interpretative park ranger at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee.

Bouwkamp is looking forward to teaching a wider variety of Sanibel Sea School offerings. She’s especially excited to be a part of the Sea School’s outreach programs with The Heights Foundation/Heights Center and Child Care of Southwest Florida.

Part of the SCCF (Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation) Family, Sanibel Sea School’s mission is to improve the ocean’s future, one person at a time.
