Stevie Hyle
Stevie was born in Queens, New York, and grew up traveling and living between Queens, Baltimore, and Tampa. Their love for nature through exploring backyards, watersheds, and forests along the East Coast and in Puerto Rico. As a child, Stevie visited national parks across the country, where they became captivated by the Junior Ranger program and experiential learning. These experiences sparked a belief that everyone, particularly kids, can create meaningful change in their environment.
As a teenager, Stevie attended camp at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which deepened their curiosity about coastal ecosystems and caring for all the critters that call the ocean home. Through outdoor recreation such as paddleboarding, camping, and napping in fields, trees, and on beaches, their connection to the more-than-human world continued to grow.
Stevie studied Parks, Recreation, and Tourism at the University of Vermont with a concentration in Environmental Education and a Forestry minor. They are especially passionate about trees, the importance of nearby nature and the relationships between flora and fauna. Last summer, Stevie worked as a camp counselor at Sanibel Sea School. They are excited to return, continue learning, and support our mission of improving the ocean’s future, one person at a time.
